Gender Marker Change in 4 Easy Steps

To make it clear this is no easy process and may face discourse. With sb180 (active July 1 2023 if not struck down) on the horizon now is the best time to finally get this done! With these steps you can change your gender marker in an afternoon.

STEP 1 "The Letter"

"the Letter" is what we in the community refer to as the document made out and signed by your doctor stating your true gender. This letter needs to have particular key words and phrases. Download and print my template to bring to your doctor to use. this contains all the said key phrases needed. Check sources bellow if you have Questions

(if doing by mail please ask your doctor to put the hospital letterhead in the space below)

STEP 2 Affidavit

Print this affidavit and have this notarized by signing it in front of a notary. (most banks have one)(may cost $10)

STEP 3 Vital Statistics

Bring The Letter, Affidavit, ID, and Birth Certificate to Vital Statistics in Topeka

1000 SW Jackson St # 120, Topeka, KS 66612

Enter your information into the kiosk and wait to be called.

A new amended  birth certificate and filing fee costs $40

STEP 4 DMV

Take your new amended birth certificate to the DMV in Topeka (FYI you don't need to go to your county DMV)

Request a gender marker change. The DMV will have to make a new id. The paper id is just as valid as the plastic one.
